South African born Sally du Randt studied voice at the University of Potchefstroom with a Bachelor of Music and an acting diploma with Prof. Werner Nel. She received a grant from the university for three consecutive years. She won First Prize of the ATKV-Forté Competition and was a finalist of the UNISA International Competition, both in South Africa. She also won First Prize at the International Belvedere Competition in Vienna. She got a nomination as best South African singer at the UNISA Transnet Internation Competition and won Second Prize at the SAMRO Competition as well as the SABC Competition in South Africa.
Sally du Randt received the Maria Coertse Grant. For two years she had a professorship for voice, first at the University of Potchefstroom, then at the University of Pretoria.
Before moving to Europe, Sally du Randt was a member of the Opera Studio Kapstadt. From 1996 to 2002 she was a member of the Stadttheater Regensburg. There she sang parts such as
Chrysothemis (Elektra), Ariadne auf Naxos, Cio Cio San (Madama Butterfly), Aida, Tatjana (Eugen Onegin), Olympia, Antonia und Giulietta (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Marie (Wozzeck), Alcina, Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) as well as Elisabeth (Tannhäuser).
Since 2002 she is engaged at the Theater Augsburg. So far she has sung there roles like Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Alice (Falstaff), Micaela (Carmen), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) and Salome.
In the season 2004/05 she sang, a.o., Saffi (Der Zigeunerbaron), Die Herzogin von Chicago by Franz Lehàr and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), followed in 2005/06 by Tosca, Maria Stuarda and Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes).
In the season 2008/09 Sally du Randt sings in Augsburg, a.o. Cio Cio San (Madame Butterfly), Adriana (Adriana Lecouver) and Leonore (Fidelio) as well as at Landestheater Niederbayern Marietta in Korngold’s Die tote Stadt.
Sally du Randt guested at the Bayerische Staatsoper as Helmwige (Die Walküre) under the baton of Zubin Mehta in the season 2003/03. Further guestings led her to the Antiken Festspiele in Trier, where she sang with Hildegard Behrens, Anja Silja and Franz Grundheber, to Landestheater Linz and Staatstheater Kassel.
