Oxana Arkaeva was born in the Ukraine. She studied at the Tschaikowski Conservatory in Moscow and at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. She won a scholarship to join the International Opera Studio Zurich, where she sang Lisabetta in Umberto Giordano’s La Cena delle Beffe, Sa Femme in Milhauds Le Pauvre Matelot and Bubikopf in Ullmanns Der Kaiser von Atlantis.
In 1995, Oxana Arkaeva was contracted to the Stadttheater St. Gallen. She sang Adina (L’Elisir d’amore), Euridice (Orpheus in the Underworld) and Ms. P in the Swiss First Performance of Michael Nymans Opera The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat. From 1996 to 2001, Oxana Arkaeva was a member of the Oper Frankfurt where she sang a.o. Adina, Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Madame Herz (The Impresario). During her time in Frankfurt, Oxana Arkaeva developped her repertoire to include the Lirico-Spinto Fach. She gave her debut in Frankfurt as Elisabetta di Valois (Don Carlo), Cio Cio San (Madama Butterfly), Miss Fluth (The Merry Wives of Windsor), Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Tatiana (Eugen Onegin).
In 2003, Oxana Arkaeva joined the Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken. There she interpreted a.o. Antonia (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Lisa (Pique Dame), the Vixen (The Cunning little Vixen), Elisabetta di Valois, Jenny (Rise and Fall of the town Mahagonny), Chrysothemis (Elektra), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Jitka (Dalibor), Freia (Rheingold), First Lady (The Magic Flute), the soprano part in Faustszenen by Robert Schumann, Aiti in Kullervo by Aulis Sallinen and Susanne Provence/Princess Laya in The Flower of Hawaii by Paul Abraham.
During the 2007/2008 season, Oxana Arkaeva took part in the German premiere of the opera Eis und Stahl by Vladimir Deschevov as well as singing the role of Micaela (Carmen) at the Staatstheater Sarbrücken. In October 2008, she made her role debut as Venus in Tannhäuser (Dresden version) with the Ulmer Theater. In May-June 2009, Oxana Arkaeva took part in the performance of The wonderful death in Flensburg. In 2009/2010 she interpreted the First Lady (The Magic Flute), Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, Salome und Sancta Susanna (Paul Hindemith) at the Ulmer Theater.
Oxana Arkaeva guested at the Opernhaus Graz, the Royal Opera House Copenhagen, the Nederlandse Opera, the Zomeropera in Alden Biesen and Arenberg, Antwerpen, at the Open Air Festival Solothurn, at the Kennedy Opera Center, USA, and at the Opera Houses of Münster, Leipzig, Mannheim and Bonn.
Oxana Arkaeva sang with the Nieuwe Ensemble at the Concergebouw Amsterdam, in Vredenburg, Utrecht, in Bijglocke and Limburhall (The Merry Widow) in Ghent, Belgien, at the Niedersächsische Musiktage (Stabat Mater by Dvórak), in the Zollverein Essen (Verdi’s Requiem), in the Gasteig Munich, (Le Vin herbée von Frank Martin), in the Philharmonie Cologne and with the WDR Cologne, with the Augsburg Philharmonics (Symphonie der Tausend by Gustav Mahler) and with the Atatürk Philharmonics (Summertime in Knoxville 1915 by Samuel Barber) in Istanbul, Turkey. She sang Donna Elvira at the Städtische Bühnen in Münster and Lisa (Das Land des Lächelns) with the Dresdener Staatsoperette in the Philharmonie in Essen.
Oxana Arkaeva is an award-holder and winner of many International Competitions, such as „Operalia“ Placido Domingo World Opera Contest in Mexiko City, „Olga Koussewitzki“ Opera Competition in New York, Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna and XXII Concorso del Perfezionamento di Canto Lirico in Santa Margherita, Italy.
She worked with Stage Directors as Gian Carlo Menotti, Peter Mussbach, Christoph Marthaler, Chris Alexander, Wolfgang Quetes, Inga Levant, and with Conductors such as Bruno Bartoletti, Daniel Oren, Sylvain Cambreling, Mark Adam and Ivan Tösz.
Oxana Arkaeva has also a broad concert repertory. She sang amongst others the soprano parts in the Verdi Requiem, in the Missa Solemnis, Stabat Mater by Dvórak the 14. Symphonie by Schostakowitsch, the Messe St. Cecilie by Gounod, Lobgesang by Mendelssohn and the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini.
