Lucia Cervoni was born in London, Ontario, Canada. She studied at the University of Western Ontario and from 2003 to 2005 at the Manhattan School of Music. She attended master classes with Marilyn Horne, Catherine Malfitano, Hakan Hagegard and Jane Eaglen.
In 2004, Lucia Cervoni studied at the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari, Italy. From 2005 to 2006, she took part in the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program and at the Seattle Opera Young Artist Program. In 2005, she won the Hugh Ross Award at the Manhattan School of Music and was a finalist in the George London Vocal Competition. She also took part in the Anna Case Mackay Grant Award of Santa Fe Opera. Lucia Cervoni was finalist at the Opera Index Vocal Competition 2007 and winner of the Washington International Competition.
In 2001, she gave her debut as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) at the UWOpera in London, Canada. She covered Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at the Manhattan School of Music, where she sang in 2004 Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) and the part of Deianira in the American premiere of Martinu’s Mirandolina. At the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari and Brescia, she sang the roles of Marianna (Il Signor Bruschino) and Orfeo (Orfeo ed Euridice). In 2005, Lucia Cervoni sang Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti) at the Manhattan School of Music and covered the part of Lorca (Ainadamar) at Santa Fe Opera. In 2006, she sang, among others, Mrs. Grose (The Turn of the Screw) and Carmen (The Tragedy of Carmen) at Seattle Opera, Third Lady (The Magic Flute) at the Santa Fe Opera and in 2007 Tessa (Trinity) at the premiere of the Santa Fe Opera-Spring-Tour. In 2008, she sang Cornelia (Giulio Cesare) at the Glimmerglass Opera.
Since 2008/09, Lucia Cervoni is a member of the Theater Magdeburg. Her parts include the Barkeeper (Boris Godunov), Sonjetka (Lady Macbeth of Mzensk) and Second Lady (The Magic Flute). Lucia Cervoni continued into her 2009/10 season with Theater Magadeburg debuting as Carmen, Diana in Offenbach’s Orpheus in der Unterwelt, La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi and returned to the role of Third Lady in The Magic Flute.
In the season 2010/11 there are revivals as well as new productions with Mrs. Grose (Britten’s The Turn of the Screw) and Charlotte (Werther).
Lucia Cervoni sang concerts at the Hudson River Regional Festival, at the Yamaha Concert Series, with the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra (Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s c-minor-Mass) as well as with the South Carolina Philharmonic.
She worked with conductors such as David Gilbert, William Lacey, Steven Smith, David Stern and Dean Williamson and directors such as Peter Kazaras, Sam Helfrich, Robin Guarino and Tim Albery.
