Biography

The Soprano Hélène Lindqvist is of Swedish-Egyptian descent and was born in Stockholm. She completed her vocal studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and continued at the University for Music and Theatre in Saarbrücken. In 1994 she received her master diploma for singing and in 1995 graduated with a diploma in solistic singing for music theater. Her teachers are Jessica Cash (London), Prof. Renate Stoll (Saarbrücken), Eva Marton and Bernd Weikl. She won the first price at the International Competition Concerto delle donne in Kassel, the second price at the Walter-Gieseking-Competition in Saarbrücken and reached the final round at the Marjorie-Lawrence-Competition in Washington.

Hélène Lindqvist had first engagements at the Frankfurter Kammeroper, with the NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk) and with the Ensemble Alta Musica Frankfurt. From 1996-1999 she joined the ensemble of the Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken, where she sang, among others, the parts of Ännchen in Weber`s Freischütz, Ilia in Mozart`s Idomeneo und other major parts. From 2001-2002 she had a guest engagement at the Theater Regensburg, for the roles Gilda in Verdi`s Rigoletto, Franziska Cagliari in StraußWiener Blut, Morgana in Haendel`s Alcina and Nuri in d'Alberts Tiefland. In January 2003 she sang the part of Damigella e Fortuna in Monteverdi`s L'Incoronazione di Poppea at the Hamburgische Staatsoper. In the season 2003/04 she sang on a tour to Japan with the part of the Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro), Gilda (Rigoletto) in Augsburg and went on a concert tour to Egypt.

Her repertoire includes the parts of Norina (Don Pasquale), Adina (L'Elisir d'amore), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Nannetta (Falstaff), Nedda (Cavalleria Rusticana), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) und Violetta (La Traviata).

From 2006/07 to 2008/09 she was a member of Ulmer Theater. There she sang, a.o., Gilda (Rigoletto), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Gilda (Rigoletto), Kurfürstin (Der Vogelhändler), Fiorilla (Il Turco in Italia) and Alcina as well as Tatyana (Eugene Onegin) and a scenic production of Pierrot Lunaire.

In the season 2008/09 she was heard, a.o., as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, as Gluck's Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice) and again as Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro. In January 2010 she guested as Tatyana (Eugene Onegin) at Theater Regensburg.

Hélène Lindqvist has an extensive concert repertoire and since 1997 sings song duets with Philipp Vogler. Furthermore Hélène Lindqvist recorded several CDs, among others with Philipp Vogler Alban Bergs Jugendlieder (2001), vocal music (solo voice) from Terzakis (2001), CD-songs by Gunnar de Frumerie with the phoenix ensemble for the Label Valve Hearts (1997), and a production of the opera Swin-swin SR (Saarländischer Rundfunk, 1997). In 1994 Hélène Lindqvist appeared live during an event of the ZDF-Television in the course of the 1200-anniversary of the city of Frankfurt. In the same year she sang for the HR (Hessischer Rundfunk) songs by Nadia & Lily Boulanger.
